The Station

Nokomai is a historic high country sheep and cattle station nestled in its own valley at the foot of the Garvie Mountains in Northern Southland New Zealand. Its location is well described by the original name “Glenfalloch”, given to it by its first settler, meaning “hidden valley “.

During its 150 years, Nokomai has only had two owners; the family of the original Scottish settler, D.A. Cameron and our family, the family of F.L. Hore, who still farm the station today. Nokomai is one of the few original runs left intact in the area and has a wealth of history attached through farming and gold mining.

Nokomai Station is a family owned and run high country sheep & beef farm. The property is approximately 40,000 ha and currently runs half bred merino ewes, merino wethers and hereford cattle.

Our wool is our pride and joy and we supply New Zealand Merino who in turn provide our clip to two well known brands, Smartwool (USA) and Icebreaker (NZ), both now owned by V.F. Corporation (USA).
